Services  ·  Corrective Exercise & Rehab

Move better — and stay better — with movement that retrains the cause.

Targeted exercise programs that rebuild strength, mobility, and stability so you don’t end up back where you started.

What it is

Corrective exercise, in plain language.

Corrective exercise is targeted movement therapy used to identify imbalances in strength, mobility, and stability — then retrain them with specific exercises. When muscles are weak, tight, or imbalanced, the body often compensates in ways that can create discomfort and limit function.

At Integrated Provider Group of Minnesota (IPGMN), corrective exercise and rehabilitation are designed to improve movement quality, restore strength, increase mobility, and help reduce the risk of reinjury. This care is often integrated with chiropractic treatment and soft tissue therapy to create more lasting results.

What It Helps With

When corrective exercise is the right tool

Corrective exercise is the bridge between feeling better and staying better — and it’s just as valuable for performance and prevention as it is for recovery.

Mobility limitations

Range-of-motion restrictions that affect how you move.

Muscle weakness & imbalance

Areas where one side or one chain isn’t pulling its weight.

Stability deficits

Joints and core control that need to be rebuilt.

Sports injuries

Strains, sprains, and movement-based injuries.

Postural problems

Patterns that show up from desk work, training, or daily habits.

Reinjury prevention

Closing the gap between “not in pain” and “moves well.”

Recovery after injury

Getting strength and confidence back after pain resolves.

Movement dysfunction

Compensation patterns that lead to chronic problems.

Performance support

Sport-specific work for athletes and active patients.

What Your Care May Include

A program built around how you actually move.

Your provider chooses the right combination of techniques based on what your evaluation shows.

Mobility Work

Targeted mobility exercises that improve joint range of motion and reduce restrictions that contribute to pain or compensation.

Strengthening Exercises

Progressive strengthening to support weak areas, improve stability, and create better overall function.

Movement Retraining

Coaching to improve body mechanics during daily movement, exercise, or sport-specific activity.

Home Exercise Program

A customized home program designed to reinforce progress between visits and support long-term results.

Why Patients Choose IPGMN

Bridging treatment and long-term function.

Corrective exercise at IPGMN is designed to bridge the gap between treatment and long-term function. By pairing hands-on care with guided movement, we help patients not only feel better, but also move better and stay more resilient over time.

Same team, same plan

Your chiropractor and rehab provider work from the same evaluation, not separate notes.

Coached, not handed a sheet

You learn the form in clinic so the exercises actually work when you do them at home.

Care close to home

Seven Twin Cities clinics so you can find appointments that fit your schedule.

What to Expect

Your first visit, step by step

A typical first visit takes 45–60 minutes and is mostly an evaluation — we want to understand how you move before we ask you to move differently.

1

Movement assessment

A look at how your body actually moves — flexibility, strength, stability, and the patterns underneath your symptoms.

2

Coached exercise

Hands-on coaching of the specific exercises that target the patterns we identified, so you learn the form correctly.

3

Home program

A customized program to reinforce progress between visits, with clear instructions and an honest plan for follow-up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about corrective exercise

Is corrective exercise the same as physical therapy?

+

There’s overlap — both use movement to rebuild strength and function. At IPGMN, corrective exercise is delivered as part of a chiropractic-led care plan, with the same hands-on team also evaluating joint motion, soft tissue, and overall mechanics.

Will I be doing exercises during my visit, or at home?

+

Both. Your provider will coach exercises in-clinic so you learn the form, then send you home with a customized program designed to reinforce progress between visits.

Do I have to be in pain to benefit from corrective exercise?

+

No. Corrective exercise is just as valuable for preventing injury, improving performance, and addressing movement patterns that haven’t started causing pain yet.

How long does a typical program last?

+

It depends on your goals. Some patients meet their goals in 4–6 visits; others continue longer when working on performance, chronic patterns, or post-injury recovery. Your provider will lay out a recommended timeline after your evaluation.

Do I need a referral?

+

No referral is required. You can request an appointment directly through our website or by calling (877) 414-2533.
