About 45–60 minutes
Your first visit is longer than a follow-up because we take time to understand your full health picture.
You lead the conversation
We start by listening. You tell us what’s going on, what you’ve tried, and what you want to get back to.
A clear plan before you leave
By the end of your visit you will understand what we found, how we can help, and what comes next.
Step by step
What happens during your visit
Every first visit at IPGMN follows the same sequence. Here’s what each step involves and why it matters.
Arrive & check in
When you arrive, our front desk team will welcome you and take care of any intake paperwork right there in the office. Plan to arrive about 10 minutes early so we can get started on time.
- Bring your photo ID and insurance card
- Bring any recent imaging you have (X-ray or MRI reports)
- Wear or bring comfortable, athletic-style clothing
Consultation — your story
Your provider will sit down with you before any exam begins. This is your time to describe what’s going on in your own words — where it hurts, when it started, what makes it better or worse, what you’ve already tried, and what you want to get back to doing.
There are no wrong answers. The more honest detail you share, the better we can help.
Assessment & exam
Your provider will perform a thorough musculoskeletal exam designed to find the root cause of your symptoms — not just confirm what you already told us. The exam may include:
- Posture and movement analysis
- Range of motion and strength testing
- Orthopedic and neurological screening
- Functional movement evaluation
- Palpation of affected joints and soft tissue
If imaging (X-ray or MRI) is warranted based on your exam, your provider will explain why and what to do next.
Your care plan
After the exam, your provider will explain what they found in plain language — no jargon. You will hear:
- What is driving your pain or limitation
- Whether IPGMN is the right fit to help you
- Which services would be most effective for your situation
- A realistic estimate of how many visits it may take
- Home exercises and lifestyle adjustments to support your recovery
The goal is a plan you understand and agree with — not one that’s handed to you.
First treatment
If it is appropriate based on your exam, your provider will begin treatment that same day. Treatment may include chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue work, a supportive modality, or a combination — depending on what your body needs.
Your provider will always explain what they are about to do and why, and will adjust their technique if anything is uncomfortable. You are in control of your care.
What comes next
Before you leave, your provider or front desk team will help you schedule your next visit and answer any remaining questions about insurance, cost, or what to expect in the coming days.
- Some mild soreness after a first treatment is normal and short-lived
- You will receive home exercise guidance to keep momentum between visits
- Your provider will re-evaluate your progress regularly — the plan adjusts as you improve

Why patients choose IPGMN
Integrated care from the very first visit
At Integrated Provider Group of Minnesota (IPGMN), your care plan is built around the full picture — not just the symptom that brought you in.
Evidence-informed
We use what the research supports. Chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, corrective exercise, and supportive modalities — combined where appropriate, not applied by habit.
Goal-based care
Your care plan is built around what you want to get back to — whether that’s training again, sleeping through the night, or getting through a workday without pain.
