Frequently asked questions
Answers to common questions about care at Integrated Provider Group of Minnesota (IPGMN) — from your first visit through insurance, services, and scheduling.

Getting started
No referral is required. You can request an appointment directly through our website or by calling (877) 414-2533.
Your first visit includes a full health history review, a physical exam, and a conversation about your goals. Your provider will explain what they found and walk you through a care plan before any treatment begins. Most patients receive some hands-on care that same day. Learn more on our First Visit page.
Plan for about 45 to 60 minutes for your first visit. Follow-up appointments are typically 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the services included in your care plan.
Bring a valid photo ID and your insurance card. If you have any relevant imaging (X-rays, MRI reports), those are helpful but not required. Learn more about your first visit →
Insurance & cost
Yes. We work with most major insurance carriers in Minnesota, including BlueCross BlueShield, HealthPartners, Medica, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, and others. It is always best to verify your benefits with your insurance company.
Yes. We offer straightforward self-pay rates for patients without insurance or who prefer not to use their benefits. Ask about pricing when you call to schedule your first appointment.
Yes. We regularly treat injuries from car accidents, including whiplash, neck pain, back pain, and soft tissue injuries. We work with auto insurance carriers and can help document your care for any related claims. Learn more about auto accident injury care at IPGMN.
Yes. We accept workers’ compensation cases and have experience treating and documenting work-related musculoskeletal injuries. Contact us to discuss your situation and we will help coordinate with your employer’s carrier. Learn more about work injury care at IPGMN.
Chiropractic care
Yes. Chiropractic care is one of the safest non-invasive treatments available for musculoskeletal pain. Serious adverse events are rare. Your provider will review your complete health history and tailor the approach to your specific needs before any treatment begins.
Most patients find adjustments comfortable and often feel immediate relief. Some mild soreness the day after — similar to what you might feel after a new workout — is normal and short-lived. We use the gentlest technique appropriate for your condition.
It depends on your condition and goals. Some patients feel better in a few visits, while others benefit from a longer plan that includes rehab and supportive therapies. Your provider will explain a recommended plan after your evaluation.
Most patients do not need imaging before their first visit. Your provider will perform a thorough exam and let you know honestly if X-rays or an MRI are appropriate before treatment begins. If you have recent imaging, bring it — it can be helpful context.
Yes. Many headaches — especially tension headaches and cervicogenic headaches (those that originate in the neck) — respond well to chiropractic care and soft tissue therapy. Your provider will assess whether your headaches are a good fit for the care we offer. Learn more about headache and migraine care at IPGMN.
Yes — pregnancy-appropriate chiropractic care is widely considered safe and is one of the most common conservative treatments for pregnancy-related back and pelvic pain. At IPGMN we use specialized techniques and equipment that keep mom comfortable in any trimester.
No. Care at IPGMN is goal-based, not open-ended. We work toward a clear outcome — less pain, better movement, or a return to the activities you love — and discharge you when you get there. Some patients choose to continue with periodic maintenance visits after the acute phase; that is entirely your decision.
Integrated services
Integrated care means combining multiple evidence-informed therapies — chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, corrective exercise, and supportive modalities — into a single coordinated care plan. Rather than treating one symptom in isolation, we address the root cause and help you stay better long-term. It is the core of what makes IPGMN different.
IPGMN offers soft tissue therapy, acupuncture, corrective exercise and rehabilitation, light therapy, and EMS and ultrasound. Many care plans combine two or more of these services. View our full services overview.
Soft tissue therapy is hands-on treatment of muscles, fascia, tendons, and other connective tissues. It’s used to release tension, reduce pain, and restore more comfortable, efficient movement.
We use acupuncture primarily for pain management, muscle tension, headaches, and nervous system regulation. It is available at select IPGMN locations. Ask your provider if acupuncture might be a helpful addition to your care plan, or learn more about acupuncture at IPGMN.
Corrective exercise is a targeted rehabilitation program designed to restore proper movement patterns, strengthen weak or inhibited muscles, and reduce the likelihood of re-injury. Your provider will build a program around your specific exam findings and goals — not a generic routine. Learn more about corrective exercise and rehabilitation at IPGMN.
Conditions we treat
IPGMN most commonly treats back pain, neck pain, headaches and migraines, sciatica, shoulder pain, hip pain, knee pain, pregnancy-related pain, sports injuries, work-related injuries, and auto accident injuries. Our integrated approach combines chiropractic care, soft tissue therapy, corrective exercise, and supportive modalities.
Yes. Sciatica — pain that travels from the lower back down the leg along the sciatic nerve — is one of the most common conditions we treat. A combination of chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, and corrective exercise is often very effective at reducing nerve compression and restoring function. Learn more about sciatica care at IPGMN.
Yes. We work with athletes at all levels — from weekend warriors to competitive and professional athletes. We treat acute injuries as well as chronic performance-limiting movement patterns, and can coordinate with your coach or athletic trainer when helpful. Learn more about sports injury care at IPGMN.
Severe pain after a serious injury, loss of bowel or bladder control, progressive weakness or numbness, fever with back pain, or unexplained weight loss are signs you should be evaluated by a medical doctor or emergency provider first. If you describe these symptoms to us, we will tell you to seek that care before we treat you.
